Revisiting 2008...
31st December 2008
Somewhere in amongst the reams that Terry Pratchett has written is a description of a troll in an ice house. It starts by writing incredibly complex and confusing equations in the ice and they gradually cancel down until they become a single, simple concept.
I've had more glimpses of the "Tango of Zero" this year.
This Jivetango site has been a lot about putting thoughts into words. Making peace with the idea that there's many routes up the mountain, not to mention the Ghost Guide.
DJing
I DJed at Bow the night everything went quietly to hell - thanks Taz :o)All change
For a variety of reasons I've changed the venues I attend and indeed some of the venues have changed themselves.Javier Cura
Someone else mixing tai chi with tango, yay.Jango
I finally figured out how to lead ochos on a Cerocer!
Jango itself gradually became more and more neuvo tango.
T-Jive
There was only one this year.
I confess a certain trepidation as to whether or not exploring Einsteinian methods had been such a great idea. Thankfully it turned out it was the right path for me.
Negracha
LGTN began and hit critical mass. We got semi-regualr DJs, and Kymme worked her magic to keep the music from going too far astray.
Plans were put forward for our own milonga with decent music and although they hiccupped a bit, look promising for the New Year.
Politics
I don't do weekenders - never have. But still there was a lot of anger around these, to the extent some looney tune likened David Bailey to the 3rd Reich?!Marc and Rachel
Started teaching tango, launched their own mini-milonga in Berko and came down to Negracha's quite a bit.
It is a thing of beauty to watch the expression on Marc's face when he watches Rachel dance.

A useful source of the female perspective in tango - as well as much knittingMoments
- Stefano's analogy about pizza - lol
- The "so what exactly are you dancing?" conversation at Bow
- "I'm trying to find you a woman who can dance tango" - Dan Hudson searching the floor in vain when a tango track came on.
- Pablo Veron's concept of dancing with only 3 steps
- Oh and I got high-fived in tango!
